Feeling much better these days, Carly enjoys bathtime and a few laughs.
Three Months Old:
Looking back over pictures of Maddie taking a bath at 3 months old, there are definately some similarities between her and Carly. Sweet sisters.

Baking with Daddy
Feelings
Recently, Maddie has begun to understand the concept of feelings and emotions and how they relate to situations. When I tell her that I'm taking her to the park or that her cousin is coming for a visit, she says, "I'm HAPPY!" Sometimes she says, "Hooray!" Or, when she hurt her foot the other day, she said, "I'm mad."
She also recognizes happiness or anger in others. She heard a bird that was singing and said, "Happy!" Whereas, there was a bird who flew into our livingroom window and she said, "I want happy." because she thought the (likeyly injured) bird was mad or hurt.
It's so interesting to watch Maddie learn new things each day.

Neglecting the Blog, Part 2
The month of February has not been kind to us so far. As Maddie started to get better, Carly began coughing and got sicker as the week progressed.
Like Maddie, Carly was diagnosed with RSV but it hit her little body much harder. We visisted the pediatrician every single day last week, and spent one afternoon at the hospital because her O2 levels weren't great and she had labored breathing. She's been doing nebulizer treatments several times a day to help her breathe better.
After 7 days of being very sick, Carly has finally started to get better. What a scary and exhausting week.
Taking care of Maddie and Carly the last two weeks has made me realize how blessed we are to have healthy children. My heart goes out to my friends who's children have illnesses which they deal with daily. Such brave and strong people.
We're hoping that sickness doesn't visit the Mahurin home for a while.

The Toddler's Speech
Even though Maddie didn't feel too well last week, she continued to add words and sentences to her spoken vocabulary. In fact, hearing her say new words, phrases and full sentences that I *know* she's understood for months added some sunshine to the week.
A few examples that occurred over the weekend: Maddie came up to me and said, "Mommy, I want wawa (water)." That sentence made my day. Earlier, Eric gave her some juice and she excitedly announced, "Mommy, I have juice!" She's also been saying "Thank You" consistently and it sounds so cute.
Hopefully Maddie continues to speak new words and sentences in the coming weeks. Very exciting!

Neglecting the Blog
This past week has been pretty crazy with freezing temps in Austin (which followed an 80 degree weekend!!), a light snowfall and a VERY sick toddler.
On Monday, Maddie started coughing and got worse so I took her to the doc and learned she had RSV. Yipes. Needless to say, Maddie (and us) have had little sleep this week trying to keep her runny nose wiped, her cough-till-throwing-up cleaned and her germs away from Carly. Maddie is finally on the mend and so far, Carly shows no signs of sickness. We're still praying that Carly does not get sick. Not sure her little body could handle RSV without needing a hospital visit.
On a brighter note, today is Friday and the city of Austin shut down this morning due to the snow. So Eric was able to stay home today. YAY!
Besides fighting germs, here's what we've been up to.
